The East of England role will focus more on youth engagement. London will focus more on people living with HIV. You will lead and develop the beneficiary opportunities programme in either London or across East of England, recruiting and supporting beneficiary volunteers who will share their views and raise awareness in a variety of settings including schools, colleges and workplaces. 

These roles will also facilitate the contribution of beneficiaries to shape the future direction of Terrence Higgins Trust and the wider sector.

Community and Events Manager

A new and exciting role responsible for the development and leadership of our Community and Events fundraising programme, raising money from a varied portfolio of products and events. These include running and challenge events, community DIY products, high-value community groups, regional fundraising products and a student ambassador programme. 

This role will strategically lead our Community and Events activities, having ownership for development of the operational plan and overseeing delivery of the programme and income targets; foster a creative and dynamic environment leading the team to identify and test new Community Fundraising activities and expand existing activities where appropriate; lead on the development of communication and marketing plans, aiming to increase recruitment for all activities, working with Marketing, PR and Policy to ensure consistency and accuracy of messaging and information and manage the Community and Events team, ensuring that the team has clear objectives and targets, and is delivering against these.

Health Promotion Coordinator (Centre Based Services)

Information about the role

An enthusiastic and self-motivated health promoter is needed to work as part of THT South’s Brighton based health promotion team. You will be delivering health promotion interventions, working with individuals from at-risk communities with the aim of reducing HIV risk and maximising sexual health.

The focus of your work will be the planning and delivery of direct contact work with people from Terrence Higgins Trust’s target communities. In particular, you will co-ordinate all direct contact health promotion services which are delivered from the Brighton office, to include responsibility for THT’s Fastest HIV & STI testing service, Face to Face service and facilitation of peer support groups. You will also be involved in supporting delivery by working with other health promoters and will be expected to participate with colleagues in community promotional events e.g. World AIDS Day, Brighton Pride.

You’ll have a good understanding of the issues relating to HIV infection and poor sexual health and also knowledge of and sensitivity to the needs of men who have sex with men and other higher risk adults in relation to HIV and sexual health promotion.  

This post will involve provision of sexual health advice and support to men who have sex with men in public sex environments. Section 7(2)(m) of the Sex Discrimination Act 1975 and Regulation 7 of the Employment Equality (Sexual Orientation) Regulations 2003 apply for this role.

Health Promotion Specialist for Lanarkshire

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Terrence Higgins Trust Scotland to deliver effective health promotion (HP) work with males who have sex with males and the wider LGBTI community in Lanarkshire. Your role will work towards improving sexual health and preventing HIV transmission.  This will be achieved through promoting behaviour change and peer-led educational interventions as part of an integrated HIV prevention and sexual health service.  Key duties will include developing and delivering outreach (such as condom distribution) to ‘at risk’ communities in a variety of settings, including colleges, schools and other community locations, using both face-to-face and digital approaches. The role also requires the delivery of a community testing service - relevant training will be provided. The age range of clients will include young people from S1 secondary school to adult.
