Health Promotion Coordinator Centre Based Services

An energetic, enthusiastic and self-motivated male health promoter is needed to work as part of THT South’s Brighton based health promotion team. You will be delivering health promotion interventions, working with individuals from at-risk communities with the aim of reducing HIV risk and maximising sexual health.

The focus of your work will be the planning and delivery of direct contact work with people from Terrence Higgins Trust’s target communities. In particular, you will co-ordinate all direct contact health promotion services which are delivered from the Brighton office, to include responsibility for THT’s Fastest HIV & STI testing service, Face to Face service and facilitation of peer support groups. You will also be involved in supporting delivery by working with other health promoters and will be expected to participate with colleagues in community promotional events e.g. World AIDS Day, Brighton Pride.

You’ll have a good understanding of the issues relating to HIV infection and poor sexual health and also knowledge of and sensitivity to the needs of men who have sex with men and other higher risk adults in relation to HIV and sexual health promotion.

This post will involve provision of sexual health advice and support to men who have sex with men in public sex environments. Section 7(2)(m) of the Sex Discrimination Act 1975 and Regulation 7 of the Employment Equality (Sexual Orientation) Regulations 2003 apply for this role.
